Welcome to our 1st Safari – Genesis Rochdale site! We are right at the heart of a vibrant, well-connected community. Families love our convenient location, with easy access to local bus routes running directly along Manchester Road and quick links to the Rochdale Town Centre tram stop, making drop-offs and pick-ups simple for parents travelling to and from work. We provide thoughtfully designed play spaces, cosy quiet areas, and engaging outdoor environments that nurture independence, confidence, and a love of learning. Through a rich play-based curriculum, children develop early communication, social skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong sense of wellbeing. Our dedicated team knows each child as an individual, supporting their confidence and curiosity each day. Safeguarding, emotional security, and high-quality early education remain at the heart of our practice. From babies to preschoolers, we create meaningful experiences that help children build friendships, develop resilience, and feel proud of their achievements. Stephanie
If Ofsted had a "frequent flyer" programme, Steph would have enough points for a free holiday. As the group's unofficial (but absolutely official) inspection whisperer, she's been through so many Ofsted visits that she can predict an inspector's questions before they've finished their coffee. With her PGCE in Early Years Education and 15 years of growing up through 1st Safari, she knows exactly what outstanding practice looks like - and she's not afraid to make sure everyone else knows too. While her home base is Cavendish Lodge, her role as Area Support and Development Manager means she brings her particular brand of organised chaos (heavy on the organised, light on the chaos) to Genesis Rochdale. Between running multiple nurseries, maintaining impossibly high standards, and recently becoming mum to baby Seraphina, Steph has somehow mastered the art of being in three places at once. Scientists are baffled. Her secret? Never wearing matching socks. She's convinced the odd sock energy gives her superpowers, and honestly, we can't prove her wrong.
Sonya
Meet Sonya - living proof that starting as an apprentice can lead to absolutely anywhere (including 828 metres up the world's tallest building and jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane!). With an incredible 19 years in Early Years, Sonya has journeyed from Coventry to Rochdale, collecting her NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications along the way and working her way up through sheer passion and dedication. Based in our Pre-School room, she's the one getting little ones school-ready across all areas of development - from maths to mark-making, communication to creativity. What drives her? Simple: watching children grow, thrive and head off to big school knowing she's helped shape their journey. Every day is different, every child is unique, and Sonya wouldn't have it any other way!
